Washington, D.C. – Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the statement below following oral arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals in Texas v. United States, the Republican lawsuit to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which includes protections for people with pre-existing conditions:
“This case is nothing more than Republicans’ latest attempt to sabotage the Affordable Care Act and strip away the coverage it provides to millions of Americans. Dismantling the Affordable Care Act would return us to the days when insurance companies could discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions, place lifetime limits on care, treat being a woman as a pre-existing condition, and sell junk plans that offer no real coverage.
“Whether in the courts or in Congress, we will continue to defend Americans’ access to quality and affordable health care, and build on the progress made under the Affordable Care Act.”
