Washington, DC – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on the passage of two bills in the House of Representatives that allow for the completion of the VA medical facility in Aurora:
“Congress has finally created a path forward to complete this medical center. The Colorado delegation worked together in both houses of Congress to keep construction going and secure the authorization and funding to complete the project. We will continue to work with Congressional and committee leadership in to ensure this project remains on track.
“Our veterans kept their promise to our nation and have waited too long while this project was delayed and over budget. They deserved better than the negligence and mismanagement we saw from the VA. The delegation will continue its efforts to hold the agency accountable and ensure these mistakes don’t happen again. For now, we have the components in place to complete this facility to serve the needs of veterans in Colorado and throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Now let’s finish the damn thing.”
