Enhances Opportunities for Hunters, Anglers, Outdoor Recreation Enthusiasts
Includes Bennet Provision to Ensure LWCF Benefits Sportsmen
Washington, DC – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today cosponsored the bipartisan Sportsmen’s Act, originally introduced by Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM). The Sportsmen’s Act is a package of over a dozen bills that would increase access and opportunities for sportsmen and women.
“Hunting and fishing are a rich part of Colorado’s heritage and represent a huge economic driver in our state,” Bennet said. “This bill includes an important provision to ensure that a dedicated portion of the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund goes toward access for our nation’s sportsmen and women.”
The Sportsmen’s Act includes a broad array of bipartisan measures to enhance opportunities for hunters, anglers, and outdoor recreation enthusiasts, reauthorize key conservation programs, improve access to public lands, and help boost Colorado’s outdoor recreation economy. A full list of the measures in the package is available, here.
The leaders of the Senate Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus are original cosponsors, including Sens. Jim Risch (R-ID), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Deb Fischer (R-NE), and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND).
