Winter Park, CO – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today congratulated Amtrak, Winter Park Resort, and Union Pacific on its partnership to offer the Winter Park Express excursion train on March 14. The train, sponsored by Amtrak and Winter Park Resort, will take passengers and their ski gear from Denver Union Station directly to the resort that morning, followed by a return trip to Denver that evening to celebrate the resort’s 75th anniversary.
“Coloradans have a unique opportunity to board this Amtrak ski train to get to the slopes and celebrate the anniversary of one of Colorado’s tremendous ski resorts,” Bennet said. “Congratulations to Amtrak, Winter Park Resort, and Union Pacific for finding a way to bring the Ski Train back to Colorado for this special trip, and a big thanks goes to the Colorado Rail Passenger Association for their work to make this happen. This is one way to help alleviate some of the impossible congestion on I-70, and hopefully we will see more opportunities to take advantage of the ski train in the future.”
The Winter Park Express will depart Denver at 7:00 a.m. and arrive at the resort at 9:00 a.m., leaving Winter Park at 4:15 p.m.to return to Denver at 6:15 p.m.
