Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement upon review of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Inspector General (IG) report on delays and mismanagement at VA medical facilities:

“The Inspector General’s interim report confirms that there have been systemic delays and mismanagement at VA facilities, which is a terrible disservice to our veterans.  Right away we need to do everything possible to address the failures and eliminate all of the problems at the VA, including the construction of the hospital in Denver, which has been woefully mismanaged.  Our veterans deserve a well-functioning system that reflects the sacrifices they have made for our country.”

“I have requested that the IG provide more information, including a specific look at every facility that serves Colorado’s veterans.  We also expect more specifics about who should be held accountable.  As we learn more of those facts, those responsible for any fraud, mismanagement or other failures should be punished and or fired.”
