Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding the Town of Estes Park a $3 million grant for the construction of a transportation hub at the Estes Park Visitor Center to help reduce traffic in downtown Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, expand parking availability and improve air quality.

“Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park include some of our country’s most beautiful natural landscapes and scenic vistas, and we need to help protect the air, land and water, while making it easier for Coloradans and visitors to travel the area,” said Bennet. “These resources for a transportation hub will provide much-needed additional parking and will encourage more visitors and residents to use the shuttle system to reach downtown and the park.”

For more information on the transportation hub, please contact Estes Park Mayor Bill Pinkham at 970-586-0992.

This project was selected on a competitive basis through the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit in Parks Program, which was established to address the challenge of increasing vehicle congestion in and around our national parks and other federal lands. The program seeks to conserve natural, historical and cultural resources; reduce congestion and pollution; improve visitor mobility and accessibility; enhance visitor experience; and ensure access to all, including persons with disabilities.
