Woodland Park, CO –Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet visited Sturman Industries in Woodland Park as part of his ongoing push to support Colorado innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs who are creating jobs and growing our economy. At Sturman, he heard ideas regarding job creation and how to create an environment in Colorado where innovators and entrepreneurs can thrive.

“The jobs of the future are going to come from innovators and entrepreneurs like the people here at Sturman,” Bennet said. “We need to do more to make Colorado a place where innovation and entrepreneurship can thrive, and Sturman is one of the places where this kind of work is taking place every day.”

The visit comes on the heels of the release of a report by “Coloradans for an Innovation Economy,”  a group of Colorado business leaders who came together at Sen. Bennet’s request to identify ways to promote economic competitiveness at the state and national levels through a greater focus on innovation and cross-sector collaboration. Carol Sturman, President and Chairman, Sturman Industries, is a member of the group.

“Coloradans for an Innovation Economy” includes leaders from business, academia and industry who are committed to making Colorado the most competitive and innovative economy in the country. It is co-chaired by Mark Sirangelo, head of Sierra Nevada Space Systems; Holli Riebel, President and CEO of the Colorado Bioscience Association; and Ron Sega, Vice President for Energy and Environment and Woodward Professor of Systems Engineering. The findings of their report were formally presented to Bennet, Governor John Hickenlooper and U.S. Senator Mark Udall last month.
