Washington, DC – Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet and Mark Udall today met with about 100 Colorado veterans from the Western Slope Honor Flight at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
“It was great to meet with so many Colorado veterans who bravely served during World War II,” said Bennet. “I am glad they were able to visit the World War II Memorial, which honors them for their dedication and sacrifice at a critical moment in our country’s history. They are truly a part of The Greatest Generation. We must continue to honor them and all our veterans for their sacrifice and work to ensure they receive the support and benefits they deserve.”
“The generation that fought in World War II is truly the Greatest Generation, and I was honored to spend time meeting and talking with some of Colorado’s World War II heroes. Their sacrifice for our freedom can never be forgotten,” Udall said. “I’m so pleased that Western Slope Honor Flight provided an opportunity for these veterans and their families to travel to Washington, spend time together, and pay their respects to their fellow service members who never came home.”
The Honor Flight Network organizes transport for veterans to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C. This is the fourth visit organized by Western Slope Honor Flight.
