Washington, DC – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement after a bipartisan majority in the U.S. Senate voted to eliminate the 1099 provision from health care reform. The measure passed by a vote of 87-12, with Bennet voting for the measure:

“Small businesses are the key to creating new jobs and strengthening our economic recovery,” said Bennet. “The 1099 fix represents a common-sense fix to health care reform that will ensure small businesses have the flexibility to grow and create jobs without the burden of unnecessary paperwork or needless red tape in their way. This fix is a perfect example of how we can continue to take bipartisan steps to provide tax relief to Colorado small businesses.”

The bill, which has already passed the House, will now be sent to the President’s desk for his signature into law.
