Washington, D.C. — Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper celebrated over $500,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reduce pollution across Colorado. The funding, made possible through the Pollution Prevention (P2) grant program and funded in part through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will help the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment partner with the Colorado Green Business Network to support businesses to fight pollution in local communities.
“I’m pleased that the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment will be able to harness this funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to help businesses across our state prevent pollution, avoid waste, and lower their energy costs,” said Bennet.
“Preventing pollution starts at the local level. Our businesses already know the importance of reducing waste, increasing energy efficiency, and emitting less,” said Hickenlooper. “Now, our BIL is helping make it all easier and more cost effective!”
EPA’s Pollution Prevention grant program targets pollution at the source to better manage waste and protect communities from exposure to toxic chemicals and conserving natural resources. This funding comes after Bennet and Hickenlooper welcomed over $330 million for Colorado to reduce climate pollution earlier this year.
