Washington, D.C. Today, Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper celebrated President Joe Biden’s intent to nominate Nina Wang to serve on the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

Bennet and Hickenlooper recommended Wang to the White House for the position in October. If confirmed by the Senate, Wang would serve on the court once Judge Christine Arguello takes senior status on July 15, 2022.

“Judge Nina Wang has diligently served Colorado throughout her career, seeking justice and upholding the rule of law,” said Bennet. “I’m confident that as a judge on the U.S. District Court, she will continue to faithfully serve the people of our state. I look forward to supporting her nomination during the confirmation process.”

“Judge Nina Wang is an excellent choice to fill this role on the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Given her depth of experience and commitment to public service, she will be exemplary. We look forward to supporting her throughout the confirmation process,” said Hickenlooper.

Since 2015, Judge Wang has served as a magistrate judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. In that capacity, she has presided over civil trials, criminal felony matters, and criminal misdemeanor trials. In addition, she has managed the pretrial process including discovery, and motions practice for Article III judges. Previously, Judge Wang worked in private practice at Faegre Bakers Daniels LLP where she specialized in intellectual property law. She also served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado and was an associate at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson LLP. Earlier in her career, Judge Wang clerked for the Honorable Peter J. Messitte on the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.

Judge Wang has taught patent litigation and trial advocacy at the University of Colorado School of Law. She cofounded the Colorado Pro Bono Patent Initiative, previously served as President of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado, and is the 2015 recipient of the Minoru Yasui Community Service Award. Judge Wang received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her B.A. Washington University in St. Louis.

This is the third seat on the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado that the senators have or are working to fill. In August, President Biden nominated Charlotte Sweeney to fill Judge R. Brooke Jackson’s vacancy on the court. Previously, the senators recommended Regina Rodriguez to fill Judge Marcia Krieger’s vacancy on the court. The Senate confirmed her to the position in June.
