Washington, D.C. – Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement ahead of the U.S. Supreme Court hearing oral arguments in California v. Texas, the Republican-backed attempt to strike down the landmark health care law that protects over two million Coloradans with pre-existing conditions:

“Instead of building on the Affordable Care Act — which is what I hear people in Colorado say they want every single day — Republicans in Washington have spent the last ten years working to sabotage it. This case is the latest installment in their decade-long project to rip health care away from millions of Americans and return us to the days when insurance companies went unchecked and could exclude people with pre-existing conditions.

“The last thing we should do in the middle of a global pandemic is blow up our health care system. Instead, we should focus on passing another relief package to fight this public health crisis and achieve universal health care with a public option.”
