Washington, D.C. – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today announced the opening of the application period for nominations to U.S. Service Academies for the class matriculating in 2020. The four service academies requiring congressional nomination include the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
“Attending a service academy is a pledge to build upon the legacy of service, character, and integrity of these institutions,” Bennet said. “Every year, it is my honor to nominate young Coloradans who exhibit exceptional commitment to their community and country to attend U.S. Service Academies.”
U.S. Service Academies are federal institutions that prepare cadets and midshipmen to become officers in the U.S. Armed Forces, while concurrently earning their bachelor’s degrees.
Young Coloradans have until October 8, 2019, to apply for a nomination to one of the following U.S. Service Academies:
- U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO
- U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY
- U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD
- U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY
