Denver, CO – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet this week held Town Halls in Salida and Gunnison, where he spoke with Coloradans about the work ahead to secure stronger and safer communities for future generations.

At both Town Halls, Coloradans shared their concerns about the inaction plaguing Washington, including failure to boost rural economic development, pass immigration reform, combat climate change, protect children from gun violence, and more.

I find it unbelievably painful that we’re having to deal with distractions in Washington, instead of doing the work that the next generation of Americans desperately needs us to do,” Bennet said. “On the other hand, I’m optimistic. Washington’s priorities seem to be decoupled from those of Americans, but I know that with your participation, we have the ability to stitch them back together. We need you to help create a rational political conversation—starting with discussions like this.”

Thursday’s Town Halls kicked off Bennet’s three-day visit in the high country, where he is meeting with businesses and community leaders to focus on the challenges and successes surrounding rural economic development in Colorado.
