Washington, D.C. – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today voted to begin debate on the joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities in the Republic of Yemen that have not been authorized by Congress.

“I voted to begin debate on this measure because I believe we’re overdue to have a discussion on U.S. policy toward Yemen. I would have preferred for that debate to start in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where we should also consider the authorization of military force more broadly. We need a process that properly considers our political goals in Yemen and the region and a strategy to achieve them, as well as human rights, humanitarian conditions, the cost of conflict, and our geopolitical interests.”
