Washington, D.C. – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today issued the following statement after the Senate voted to begin debate on immigration legislation:

“As the Senate begins debate this week on an immigration bill, we must remember what’s at stake: protecting the hundreds of thousands of Dreamers who are about to lose their status because of President Trump’s decision to rescind the DACA program.

“Their protection should not be contingent on dramatic changes to our immigration system. Instead, we must focus on providing certainty to Dreamers and keeping families together. I will continue to work with my colleagues on a bipartisan solution that can pass the Senate.”
