Washington, D.C. – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s budget proposal:
“After signing a tax cut into law that explodes deficits by $1.5 trillion and a spending deal last week that adds hundreds of billions more to the national credit card, this budget asks our kids, our state governments, and our communities – particularly rural communities – to pick up Washington’s tab.
“From extreme cuts to Medicaid that will harm our most vulnerable citizens and rural hospitals, to slashing Essential Air Services, to deeply cutting funding for clean air and water, to an infrastructure plan that forces states to come up with almost all of the funding, this budget fails to reflect Colorado’s priorities. We should reject it, and instead work together to fund a government that reflects the decency our parents and grandparents had when they invested in us.”
