Washington, D.C. – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s establishment of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity:
“Voter fraud is exceedingly rare. At best, this is a commission in search of a problem. At worst, it is a tool for suppression. Elections are the heart of our democracy, and voting is one of our most important acts as citizens. The Administration should focus its time and energy on supporting and encouraging policies that improve, not suppress, citizen participation in elections. Colorado is a national leader on this front, implementing same-day voter registration, mail-in-ballots, ballot drop boxes, county-wide in-person voting centers, and early voting. I will work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to protect every American’s sacred right to vote.”
