Colorado Springs, CO – Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet met with Colorado women who own small businesses in El Paso County to discuss the challenges they face when starting and growing a business.
“One of the strengths of Colorado’s economy is the number of successful small businesses that are not only responsible for employing hardworking Coloradans, but also for driving innovation,” Bennet said. “Our state is an ideal place to start and grow a small business and we need to keep it that way by continuing to provide the opportunities and incentives that allow them to thrive. Today’s roundtable was a great way to connect with these entrepreneurs and hear what’s important to them firsthand.”
Since coming to the Senate, Bennet has worked to create new opportunities for entrepreneurs to start and grow their small businesses, which fuel our economy. Bennet played an integral role in creating and bringing the patent office to Denver. He also co-authored the bipartisan CROWDFUND Act that is now helping small businesses raise capital. He has also proposed legislation to allow small businesses to expense, or write off, up to $1 million in capital investments in a given year, which would free up capital quicker to invest in new purchases and help them grow.
