Washington, D.C. – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today announced that the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is receiving $1 million for repairs and reconstruction of Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon in Garfield County. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Relief fund.

Last week, a rockslide closed a portion of the interstate for more than a week. One lane in each direction was reopened yesterday. CDOT estimates it will take another month before both lanes fully reopen in both directions.

“These emergency funds are crucial to help CDOT quickly repair this busy stretch of I-70,” Bennet said. “We will continue to work with CDOT to ensure it has the resources it needs to repair the road and restore access to Glenwood Canyon.”
