Washington, DC – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) draft rules to reduce methane emissions:
“We know that reducing methane emissions from the oil and gas sector is important to better protect our air and environment. I am pleased that today’s proposal from the EPA is focused on the same proven and cost effective strategies that Colorado adopted in its groundbreaking rules in 2014. We’re glad that the EPA is following Colorado’s lead and starting this process at the national level. We look forward to reviewing these draft regulations and are hopeful they will strike the same balance we were able to achieve in Colorado.”
