On the second anniversary of the tragic shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today remembers the victims and pays tribute to the family and friends who continue to grieve. In the days following the shooting, Bennet spoke on the Senate floor to remember each of the victims.

“Today, Colorado commemorates a solemn anniversary.  Two years ago, a theater full of people who at that moment wanted nothing more than to escape the heat and enjoy a movie with their family and with friends, found themselves in the middle of a senseless and violent tragedy.

“Since that night, we have seen an outpouring of support all across Colorado and, for that matter, all across the United States of America for those we lost, their loved ones, and for the city of Aurora. The grace and courage of the families and survivors affected by this terrible tragedy serve as a powerful reminder to all of us of the resilience of the human spirit. Today we remember the victims whose lives were cut tragically short, honor the acts of heroism by people in the theater who helped save others, and lend our support as a community to the family and friends who suffered the loss of a loved one that night.”
