Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement today on the grand opening of Denver’s Union Station:
“Today’s grand opening of Denver’s Union Station pays homage to the legacy of the miners and pioneers who understood what a magnificent future lay ahead for the tiny settlement of Denver,” Bennet said. “With investments from federal, local, and private partners, Denver has built a new type of transit hub that sets the standard – and raises the bar – for every city in America.”
Earlier this year, Bennet introduced a bipartisan bill with Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) to fund large infrastructure projects like Union Station and others throughout the country. The Partnership to Build America Act establishes a $50 billion infrastructure fund that can potentially support hundreds of billion in loan guarantees and financing authority for state and local governments. The fund could be used to finance transportation, energy, communications, water, and education infrastructure projects.
