Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today issued the below statement following his vote to avoid a government shutdown and support the Senate’s Continuing Resolution to keep the government running after September 30.
“There is no way that any Mayor or any City Council in Colorado would show up for work and say we might close the government next week to make a political point. In fact, many city and county governments in Colorado are showing tremendous resilience by keeping their governments open following one of the largest disasters in the state’s history,” Bennet said.
“A government shutdown anytime would hurt Colorado businesses, families and economy. A shutdown now could also delay critical flood recovery efforts.
“Today, the Senate passed a budget to keep the government running after September 30. The House of Representatives should quickly take it up and pass it.”
