Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on a report by American Rivers listing the Colorado River as this year’s Most Endangered River.
“While I haven’t yet reviewed today’s report, there is no doubt whatsoever that a growing population and a warming climate constitute serious threats to the Colorado River and its health into the future. Clean water and healthy rivers are the lifeblood of our state’s economy and our environment. We need to engage all of the diverse stakeholders in discussions about how to protect this precious resource into the future.”
Last year, Bennet praised the signing of the Colorado River Cooperative Agreement, which was signed by several Colorado counties and utility providers to establish the cooperative, long-term efforts to improve the health of the Colorado River and its tributaries in Colorado.
