In response to the announcement that two Colorado school districts have received multi-million dollar grants through the Department of Education’s Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF), U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, former superintendent of Denver Public Schools, issued the following statement:
“Our future depends on our teachers. These grants will help attract and retain the best and brightest to teach and lead high-need schools,” Bennet said.
“The Teacher Incentive Fund is just the kind of innovative, forward-thinking solution that enhances the work already going on in Colorado to reform our public education system and ensure we prepare students for the 21st century economy.”
Denver Public Schools received $8,909,813 through TIF and Harrison School District Two, in Colorado Springs, received $4,079,060.
