Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, a former superintendent of schools, today released the following statement on news that a group of 21 rural Colorado school districts, the East Central Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), will retain access to crucial resources following the successful resolution of a matter with the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) regarding broadband Internet access at the schools.
“In order to prepare our students for the 21st century economy, schools across Colorado need access to reliable, affordable broadband Internet, particularly those situated in rural communities,” said Bennet. “Students in rural schools should not be asked to go back in time when they step into a classroom. We need to bring those classrooms up to speed so they can compete with their peers in urban school districts and students around the world, and these resources can help.”
