Washington, DC – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement on today’s release of the 2011 results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP).
“Colorado’s focus on innovative and bold reform is moving our students and schools in the right direction, but there is still plenty of work to do. Particularly, we need to focus on closing the achievement gap.
“We owe it to Colorado parents, teachers, principals and students to deliver a long-overdue fix to No Child Left Behind and ensure they have the flexibility and support they need to ensure all our kids can compete in the 21st century economy. Last month, the Senate committee responsible for education passed a bipartisan bill that can continue to serve as a building block for final legislation that will roll back No Child Left Behind.”
