Washington, DC – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, today released the following statement on news that Colorado’s agricultural exports increased 20 percent to $718 million in the first seven months of 2011 over last year’s exports:

“The continuing growth of Colorado’s agricultural exports is a testament to the hard work of farmers and ranchers across our state – from the Western Slope to the Eastern Plains and everywhere in between.

“Farming and ranching is a critical part of Colorado’s economy, and it is important that our Ag producers get the support they need to continue to thrive. I’ve made it a priority to meet with producers statewide and listen to their suggestions for improving the farm economy. As work on the Farm Bill begins, I will keep their input in mind and strive to make Colorado the best state for farming and ranching in the country.”

Recently, Bennet unveiled a Farm Bill survey on his website to garner feedback as Congress looks ahead to work on the 2012 Farm Bill. The survey can be found at https://www.bennet.senate.gov/farmbill/ or by clicking on the Farm Bill link on his website.
