Denver, CO – Michael Bennet, U.S. Senator for Colorado, released the following statement on Armed Forces Day, which is celebrated every third Saturday in May:
“One thing all of us can agree on – Republicans and Democrats, progressives and conservatives – is the need to support our troops. Providing our troops and our military everything they need to do their jobs, to protect our freedoms – to keep our country safe – should never be a partisan issue.
“Supporting our military men and women is something that ought to unite us as Americans.
“On Armed Forces Day, we recognize the sacrifices our troops have made, the values they embody, and the courage they inspire in each other and in each and every one of us. But most importantly, we say, ‘Thank you’ – thank you for all you have done and continue to do for our country.”
Last week, Bennet kicked off a month-long statewide veterans listening tour as part of his continued commitment to our troops and military veterans. Bennet’s tour, which began in Pueblo, will take him to rural and urban communities across the state to hear directly from Colorado veterans on major issues including access to VA healthcare, services and benefits and the VA’s backlogs.
