Washington, DC – Highlighting Colorado’s unique position as a leader in the new energy economy, Michael Bennet, U.S. Senator for Colorado, hosted Spirae Distributive Energy, a Fort Collins-based Smart Grid integration company, at a Green Jobs Summit in the Senate today.
Bennet nominated the company to represent Colorado at the event, which focused on creating and maintaining a sustainable, healthy economy and environment by investing in renewable energy. Vice President Joe Biden was the keynote speaker.
“Fort Collins’ Spirae is helping to position Colorado as a leader in the new energy economy so that we can produce new, good-paying jobs,” Bennet said. “We should continue to find ways to create even more jobs, reduce our dependence on oil and encourage investments in clean energy and smart grid technologies. Companies like Spirae are hard at work doing just that and their work deserves to be highlighted on the national stage.”
Spirae Distributive Energy showcased their work at the summit today and interacted with other businesses in the industry. The half-day summit included panel discussions and an education forum to highlight new jobs created through emerging clean energy technologies.
Summit participants included CEOs of renewable and clean energy businesses from around the country, several Fortune 500 company leaders, labor union representatives, environmental leaders, renewable energy trade association representatives and community college presidents.
