Washington, D.C. – Today, in a ceremony at the White House, President Barack Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2008 into law. United States Senator Michael Bennet supported the measure, which overturns a U.S. Supreme Court decision that placed limits on a person’s ability seek redress for wage discrimination in the workplace.
“All Americans, regardless of race, age or gender, deserve fair compensation for the work they do,” said Senator Bennet. “This legislation will help ensure current and future generations of Americans are rewarded fairly for their efforts in the workplace– that equal work is met with equal pay. As we face one of the most serious economic crises in a generation, hardworking Americans and their families can’t afford anything less.”
